Preschool
Academics and Adventure, Every Day
The Sunshine Preschool Program supports the developmental and cognitive growth of children ages three to five. Grounded in child development principles, the program is child-centered, intellectually engaging, and fosters social-emotional growth and creative expression. Curiosity is our North Star.
With average class sizes of 16 and an 8:1 student-teacher ratio, our interdisciplinary curriculum is active, collaborative, and theme-based, integrating academics across subjects.
Our graduates are the best testament to the value of a Sunshine education and the strength of our community. Our graduates attend the most prominent West Los Angeles private and public schools including Brentwood School, John Thomas Dye School, Curtis School, Carlthorp School, St Martin of Tours, Mirman School, Village School and many more.

The Chickadee program includes circle time, outdoor play, snack, story time, art, cooking, center time, and music. In addition, our Spanish and Literacy specialists work with the children several times each week.

The Dalmatian class serves as a transitional group, with approximately half of the students preparing to enter kindergarten. Many elements of our Developmental Kindergarten (DK) program are integrated into this class.
Our Zebra and Penguin DK classes are designed for 5-year-olds who miss the kindergarten cut-off or would benefit from an additional year of growth. The full-day program runs four days per week from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
In addition to the activities offered in the 4-year-old program, the DK curriculum provides extended opportunities in literacy, mathematics, science, ans social studies. Children engage in project-based learning, writing activities, word walls, hands-on math and science explorations, cultural studies, and individualized tasks that challenge each child at their own pace. All of our children visit our specialist classes - music, art, Spanish and STEM - through the week and participate in a weekly sports class provided by Super Soccer Stars.

All of our children participate in our Specialist classes which include Spanish, art, music, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Through these small group activities, children learn essential concepts, build knowledge, and explore a rich and diverse world. Parents of Panda, Dalmatian, Zebra, and Penguin students may also opt into rotating extracurriculars such as chess, karate, and dance.
